As a photographer, there are certain moments that truly hit the heart—and capturing memories for my dear friend Annie and her close-knit group of mom friends was absolutely one of those moments. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing all of Annie’s big life milestones—from her engagement, to her wedding, to maternity, and even a special 1st birthday celebration for her twins (although we missed newborn photos because of Covid, we made up for it with plenty of other memories!). So when she reached out to me about a Mother’s Day photo session, I couldn’t wait to help her and her friends create more lasting memories.
On Mother's Day 2024, we gathered at White Country Side in Waterford, Ontario, for a dreamy Mother’s Day mini session. This location is a photographer’s paradise—imagine an entirely white house with sprawling natural light, charming cherry blossom trees dotting the property, and even some adorable goats roaming in the backyard. It feels like a magical experience. There’s something about this space that makes every photo feel like it’s straight out of a fairytale.
We spent the afternoon capturing the essence of motherhood—laughter, hugs, snuggles, and playful moments. The kids had the time of their lives running around, jumping on the bed, and swinging in the house’s cozy indoor swing. But the real magic happened when they got to play with the goats. There’s nothing quite like the joy of a child and farm animals, and I loved seeing the moms share that joy with their little ones.
The light was soft and perfect, flooding through the windows and giving the whole house a warm glow. We took advantage of every cozy corner, from the front porch with its inviting benches to the tranquil swing where the moms could catch their breath and share a quiet moment with their kids.
What made this session even more special was that it wasn’t just about the photos—it was about capturing the bonds of friendship, love, and support. Annie and her friends share a beautiful support network, and it was clear that they were all there for each other, lifting one another up in every photo. It’s these moments of connection that truly make my job as a photographer so rewarding.
As we wrapped up the session, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for being part of such a beautiful day. For me, it’s not just about taking pictures; it’s about telling stories, documenting real life, and making sure that every person in front of my camera feels loved and seen. And I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Mother's Day than by capturing those moments for these incredible women.
Here’s to all the beautiful mothers and the moments that make this life so special. Thank you to Annie and her friends for trusting me to capture this meaningful chapter in your lives.
